Of additional interest at this event that will bring a shine to anyone looking to expand their knowledge around investments, is that AlwaysOn has announced the sixth annual GoingGreen Global 200-the top companies that are disrupting global industries and creating viable business models for the green technology marketplace.

The AlwaysOn editorial team and industry experts across the globe dug deeply into the worldwide clean technology community to identify the top 200 private companies that are bringing their innovative and disruptive ideas into today’s greentech space. Those who are a part of the vetting process include AlwaysOn partners made up of top companies, as well as the leading investment and consulting firms such as Draper Fisher Jurvetson, EnerTech Capital, Khosla Ventures, New Enterprise Associates, KPMG, Sequoia Capital, Chevron Technology Ventures, Technology Partners, Singtel, Trident, VantagePoint Capital Partners, Venrock, Israel Cleantech Ventures, Garage Technology Ventures, GrowthPoint Technology Partners, Opus Capital, and General Electric.

Mature, Robust, Sustainable
This year’s GoingGreen Global 200 companies are taking maturing greentech research and pairing it with innovative technology solutions to produce the products and services that will become the next, great wave in greentech. The themes represented in this year’s list point to resource sharing and refining efficiency in almost all categories, especially in the areas of transportation and data-center power consumption.

Early green automobile efforts focused on providing a more efficient ride for the individual, while today, savvy entrepreneurs are using today’s gas-efficient models and finding new ways to share them amongst a community of users. While urban environments benefitted almost immediately, given the density of transit users, car-sharing services are now spreading their message and their services to the suburbs and beyond.

The massive advances in mobile, cloud, and on-demand software may provide the most immediate and lucrative opportunities in energy management and efficiency. As more and more consolidated data centers are emerging, serious concerns about energy and resource consumption are being discussed and studied. Innovators committed to bringing the cloud into everyday reality are taking existing greentech products and pairing them with cloud infrastructure solutions, so that those who are sharing computing power and resources can benefit from the intelligent use of these precious computing resources. These efficiency experts are at the forefront of solutions that have only been on the fringes of the imagination and are now made possible by recent advances in green technology.

Changing Lives for the Better
This year’s GoingGreen Global 200 companies represent leadership in the global innovation community and are developing solutions and technologies that are rapidly pushing outside the bounds of existing markets and away from established players. Companies were selected based on a set of five criteria: innovation, market potential, commercialization, stakeholder value, and media buzz.

Congratulations to all the 2012 GoingGreen Global 200 winners. As the top venture capital-backed greentech companies continue to disrupt the established energy, manufacturing, and technology worlds, they’re joining forces and pioneering new ways to deliver efficient products to a resource-hungry world. These companies have the ability to change the way we live our lives for the better, while bringing huge returns to their founders and funders.

The winners of this competition will be officially honored at:
