Bonnie Nixon, Sustainable Roundtable on corporate sustainability metrics

Information is power and the goal of using metrics is to analyze solutions and measurements to make important changes in business also helps to create transparency. Bonnie Nixon talks about the goal of developing and leveraging the data to enable companies and people to make smart decisions.

In Bonnie’s video interview, she describes how metrics targeted towards life cycles can help companies identify solutions for specific categories such as too much water, reducing carbon emission, sourcing and other areas related to creating a more sustainable business.

Companies are pulling together data and contributing towards sustainable business. Bonnie is a great fan of coopetition to achieve common goals. She notes they are doing this in collaboration as they recognize the value of working together versus in a silo, where 1+1=3.

Historically, Nixon was responsible for executing on a bold vision for an independent standards organization of diverse corporate, government, academic and civil society groups.

She brought a deep well of knowledge to the industry and was one of the first to execute at a high level with the big tech companies during her days at Hewlett Packard where she was Director of Environmental Sustainability. Bonnie implemented the worlds’ largest and most complex electronic ethical and sustainable supply chain program for 10 years.

Responsible for building a solid business case and constructively engaging thousands of global suppliers on environmental, health, safety, ethical and labor practices, Bonnie later translated this knowledge into a valuable asset in helping The Sustainability Consortium as their executive director until 2012, where Bonnie helped spearhead the movement of using data to bring transparency to corporate sustainability. Bonnie is now a strategic advisor to Sustainability Roundtable Inc. where she leads the Enterprise Wide Leadership Council.
